Channel Insurance Brokers is pleased to announce the promotion of Ashley Sanchez to Associate Director in the Commercial Team.
Ashley’s promotion recognises his hard work, commitment and continued contribution to supporting commercial clients across the Channel Islands.
Commenting on the appointment, Tony de Sousa, Group Managing Director at CIB, said:
“We’re delighted to see Ashley step up as Associate Director in the Commercial Team. He consistently goes the extra mile for clients and colleagues alike, and this promotion recognises the impact he’s having on the business.”
In his new role, Ashley will take on greater responsibility within the team, helping to shape the way CIB continues to deliver trusted, local insurance advice to businesses in Guernsey and Jersey.
To mark the occasion, we asked Ashley to share what the promotion means to him, what he has learned during his career, and what he believes Channel Islands businesses need most from their insurance broker today.
What does becoming Associate Director mean to you personally and professionally?
Becoming an Associate Director is a big milestone for me. Personally, it feels like recognition for the hard work and commitment I’ve put into my career.
Professionally, it means I can play a bigger part in how we look after our clients and support the team. I’m looking forward to taking on more responsibility and helping to shape how we grow.
What has been the most rewarding part of your journey with CIB so far?
The most rewarding part has definitely been building relationships with clients and supporting their insurance requirements.
I’ve also really appreciated the trust and support I’ve had internally, as well as the opportunity to take on more responsibility and progress within the business.
What do you think Channel Islands businesses need most from their insurance broker today?
I think local businesses need someone who genuinely understands their business and the local market.
They also need a broker who is proactive, someone who can flag changing risks and explain the options available. Having a consistent, approachable contact is important too; someone they can pick up the phone to or meet face-to-face when needed.
Lastly, I think businesses need a broker who goes the extra mile and builds a strong relationship with their clients.
What advice would you give to someone starting out in insurance or building a career in financial services locally?
There is a lot to learn at the start, but if you keep asking questions and try to really understand how things work, it gets easier over time. You just need to be patient.
In the Channel Islands, your reputation matters. Be reliable, do what you say you will do, and treat people well. Over time, that is what opens doors and helps build a solid career.
And do not be afraid to step out of your comfort zone when opportunities come up.
Ashley’s promotion reflects CIB’s continued investment in its people and its commitment to providing businesses in Guernsey and Jersey with experienced, approachable and locally informed insurance advice.
Congratulations, Ashley, from everyone at CIB!
